Philosophy Of Care In the Filipino community, the concept of family is always there, so it's a natural part of how I approach patient care. My patients tell me that I am a good listener. They say that because I take the time to get to know them, it's easier for them to tell me what's going on in their lives. Family is very important in the Filipino community, so patients usually want family members involved in their care. I think that's a good thing because the stronger a patient's support network, the more it helps with his or her care. I'm very proactive about preventive care and I encourage my patients to be also. I talk to them about their bad habits, and I work with them to change them - if they're interested in doing so. Ultimately, a person has to want to change.
