If you suffer chronic pain for a very valid reason with proof of disability via M.R.I. and X rays and other test, you will still be treated as a junkie at Riverbend. I was extremely insulted to have to sign a abuse contract, be urine tested ever time I went in, and go through the theatrics of a medication count. In spite of my knees suffering severe bi lateral arthritis, a pinched nerve in my lower back and stenosis of the spine, and a deteriorating left hip, this seemed to be not enough in spite of all the medical test and evaluations: my pain medication was cut in half. The dosage then did not even meet the P.D.R. prescribing dosages and I was then left in sever pain. When I question this, I was told by the Dr. "worried about side effects" and I had been taking this particular non opioid medication for years but had a change in insurance, thus doctor. I found my doctor not to be engaging in the least, very matter of fact, and not encouraging at all. When at times I e mailed her , her medical assistant would answer me and so true communication with the doctor did not exist. I also found the medical assistants knowledge of medicine limited and she did take liberty of "advising me". I might add I was a former B.S.N. R.N. until retirement, and also a certified addiction counselor at the Masters level. I strongly do not endorse River bend .
