Caution: these guys WILL try to take advantage of you!

At least they did with me. I changed my own front struts on my car and afterward took it into ACAC for an alignment. While waiting in the lobby, I was told they couldn’t do the alignment because “whoever put on new struts did not do the job right and did not install new strut mounts, so we’ll have to do that before we can do an alignment.” My response: “Actually, I did the job, and I did put new mounts on, so go ahead and pull my car down and give me my keys so I can get out of here.”

Then the back pedaling began and I was told it also needed new control arm bushings before they could do an alignment. While there was some truth to that (on one side of the car), the fact that it wasn’t there original assessment and they wanted to tear down my whole strut job on the assumption that I had no idea what they were talking about was insulting and lacked any integrity.

My pursuit of an honest mechanic continues.
