Besser Elementary School, governed by Alpena Public Schools, serves more than 400 students in kindergarten through grade six. The school campus is spread across an area of over 20 acres. It coordinates the Besser Society community, which assists students on improving business skills through mock programs. Besser Elementary School offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including junior knowledge bowl, summer institute, field trips and assemblies. The school also supports a preschool program on campus that enrolls nearly 30 students. Its curriculum includes math, science, social studies, physical education and language arts. Besser Elementary School administers special education and Title I programs.
