Operational since 1999, Thunder Bay Junior High School serves more than 800 students in grade seven through eight. Its educational programs include instruction in mathematics, science, English and social studies. The school also offers physical and special education classes. Thunder Bay Junior High School s sports programs include tennis, football, basketball, and track and field. It features a music complex, media center, performance stage, gym, cafetorium, science and computer laboratories, technology centers, and industrial arts and life management rooms. The school has a staff of over 40 teachers. Thunder Bay Junior High School operates a drama club and organizes dance and spelling bee competitions. The school is a part of Alpena Public Schools.
