Dr. Heather Thigpen Sutton was born and raised in Florence, Alabama where she attended Brooks High School prior to accepting academic scholarships to the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She graduated UAH Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She continued her studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, where she was an active member of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH), American Optometric Student Association (AOSA), and Beta Sigma Kappa â?? Optometric Honor Society.
