Versant Power is a regulated electric transmission and distribution utility serving customers in northern and eastern Maine. Our service territory spans 10,400 square miles in five counties and comprises two service districts: the Bangor Hydro District, serving Hancock, Piscataquis and Washington counties and most of Penobscot County; and the Maine Public District, serving Aroostook County and a small piece of northern Penobscot County. Versant Power is responsible for the electricity grid \ u2014 a system of poles, wires, substations, meters and other equipment. We do not generate or sell the electricity that we deliver. Our role includes planning for the needs of the system, restoring power when storms strike, and working every day to deliver safe, reliable cost-effective service to our customers.
