Complimentary spoonbread? That's my kind of place. Southern hospitality at this historic tavern and hotel. I still remember my meal of chicken flakes in a bird's nest. Delicious!!

Meals were a bit too pricy and somewhat over-rated for us; however, the rooms were comfy and clean; and the location is central -- but parking is often not available.

This hotel is part of Berea College and has been recently remodeled. It is also a green hotel. Students provide a lot of the labor and also have made the furniture and many craft items and linens used by the hotel. We unfortunately were unable to stay at the hotel, as we had no reservations, but did see the lobby and ate dinner in the dining room. Food was very tasty, and service was excellent. Decor was very gracious. It is a lovely building. Rooms are not cheap but it should be worth it if you can stay there.
