The Family Support Center is a nonprofit service organization that helps school staff and families to prevent, recognize and overcome mental health and behavioral problems in students in prekindergarten through grade 12. The center offers a range of social services to families and schools. It supports healthy emotional growth and development through educational programs, consultation and intervention. The Family Support Center conducts training workshops and educational programs, and provides clinical consulting to parents, administrators and teachers. It offers guidance lessons on several topics, such as communication, group relations, decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, peer mediation and relationships, value clarification, leadership skills, violence prevention, diversity training and alcohol prevention. The Family Support Center, founded in 1990, is based in Bethesda, Md.
