Founded in 1982, Foodshare is a regional food bank that operates in Hartford and Tolland counties in Connecticut. It distributes more than 15 tons of food per day to a network of over 350 local partners. The nonprofit organization serves children, senior citizens and poors. Foodshare also works with food companies and maintains partnerships with the United Way and End Hunger Connecticut. It has a distribution center in Bloomfield in Connecticut. In addition, the independent organization offers food products for community kitchens, emergency shelters and food pantries. Foodshare is affiliated with Feeding America. It also provides assistance in disaster situations. The organization offers the Hunger 101 program.
