Project J.O.Y. offers a range of employment and training opportunities for the youths of eastern Oakland in California. The program serves youths between the ages of 16-26. It provides educational, counseling and job placement services. Project J.O.Y. has served over 8,000 young adults. The program has an After-School Homework, as well as provides the General Education Diploma preparation program. Project J.O.Y. conducts weekly orientation sessions, as well as supports the Summer Cultural Enrichment Program. The program is a part of the East Oakland Youth Development Center, which was founded in 1973 and is a nonprofit agency. The East Oakland Youth Development Center operates an art department.
