Provided by YPmobileI have been studying piano with Frank King for many years. Through my association with Frank, I have received the inspiration to continue my education at an advanced level in college with composition being my major. Frank has been my main motivational force, whether it be music or academics. For this, I owe Frank a debt of gratitude and strongly recommend him as an instructor for anyone interested in the piano and music in general.

Provided by YP.comWe have been taking lessons with Frank King for about 7 years. My then 3-year old son didn’t sit still for much in life until he saw a babysitter play Fur Elise on our piano and he focused on mimicking her fingers. After watching him sit still for 15 minutes or more at a time, we began calling around for a teacher. All of them wanted the child to be reading first. Frank was the first one to say, “Nonsense! I won’t take your time and money, nor my time, if he’s not ready, but being able to read isn’t necessary.”
And so it began. I was immediately impressed with Frank’s personalized instruction. Rather than begin with the traditional scales, he hand-wrote all the lessons during those initial weeks. His innovative method had my son playing basic songs with both hands by the second lesson! This of course thrilled and encouraged him to practice often so he could learn to play more complicated pieces. Before long, Frank had him reading music!!!
When my older son (then nearly 6) began lessons about 18 months later, he too quickly took to Frank’s personalized teaching. At the end of some lessons, Frank would often play a more difficult version of a piece for the boys to give them an idea of where they were headed. The flourishes and embellishments were very exciting for the boys to hear. This then inspired my older son to begin experimenting with composing his own ‘masterpieces’ as Frank calls them. Now 12, he continues to compose songs which he enjoys performing at holiday gatherings, recitals and most recently, for nursing home residents.
Frank’s requirement that the boys continue playing the songs they’ve already mastered while still practicing their new material has resulted in a growing and varied repertoire -- again, very useful when family and friends request a mini-performance or when prepping for a community service concert.
My oldest daughter, 7, is now in her 5th month of lessons and we're again thrilled with how she is progressing and enjoying the experience.
Frank is a dedicated and patient instructor who has connected really well with my boys and now my daughter. He encourages them to keep learning and enjoying the piano. As the boys have gotten older, I especially appreciate Frank’s increased expectations for them and I can tell they, too, like living up to his standards.

Provided by YP.comTwo of my three sons started taking piano lessons from Frank King in 2002, when they were in the first and third grades. We were amazed by how well the boys took to the piano and how Frank would teach them each at his own pace. The boys had their own songs to learn and enjoyed being independent in their music. Over the first several years they developed their own taste for certain music and Frank would be teaching one jazz pieces while the other was learning his favorite Billy Joel songs. Frank is patient, kind and encouraging with the boys but does expect them to practice in order to advance. Participating in a few recitals where they would hear what other students were learning, gave them motivation to become better musicians.
When my oldest son was in the fifth grade, he injured his arm requiring surgery and had some temporary nerve damage. It was wonderful how Frank kept up his piano lessons and wrote out the music each week to match his ability to his progress. Besides helping his moral, it was great therapy for his arm! Frank does take a personal interest in all his students.
When my third son started piano lessons it was obvious after about a year that he did not have the interest or love of the piano that his older brothers did. Although Frank tried different methods to encourage him, when we decided to stop his lessons he was very understanding. He is aware that not all students have the same interests or abilities.
My oldest son is in college now and will still sit at the piano when he can. He says it a great stress reliever. My middle son is still taking lessons weekly and although does not have as much time to practice due to schoolwork and extra curricular activities of high school, he still enjoys his music.

Provided by YP.comI am presently attending a local community college with the intent of continuing my music education at my four-year college in a specialization that includes a piano emphasis. I have been taking private piano and theory lessons with Frank King for several years. Frank King's teaching technique is exceptionally effective and enjoyable. My rapid advancement is without a doubt largely due to Frank's skill in keeping me motivated and enthusiastic. He is an extraordinary piano instructor. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who possesses the inclination to learn and enjoy the piano.

Provided by YP.comFrank King is without a doubt an exceptional piano teacher. Taking piano lessons with Frank has not only helped me achieve a better understanding of music, but has also opened my eyes to a whole new passion. I love piano and I find nothing more enjoyable than sitting at the keyboard receiving my next lesson. Frank is indeed a wonderful teacher who does nothing but encourage his students to be the best that can be. He allows each student to work at his/her own pace which takes away any type of pressure they may feel. No one can learn piano in one night and Frank's methods allow us to make mistakes and not feel bad about it. Even when performing at a recital, he assures us it is a learning experience, a forum for practicing in front of an audience, not a test of one's ability. All we have to do is have fun. I improve each week I go back and I have never felt so proud. If you're looking for a fun, easy way to play piano with definite, noticeable results and improvement, I highly recommend working with Frank.

Provided by YP.comA year ago my boyfriend surprised me by buying a Casio Privia piano and signing us up for piano lessons with Frank King. Ken only called Frank because after talking to him he knew he was the teacher for us. Frank is not a stickler for following a course book page by page. He personalizes your course work based on your level. I am a 55 year old woman who is learning piano at a 1st grade level and I feel humbled but Frank doesn't see it that way. He makes you feel comfortable with the level you are at.
Frank will give you songs to learn from a course book but he also arranges pieces himself to accommodate the player. I have such a broad repertoire and it’s fun to go back and play the “easy” songs I learned when I first started lessons with Frank. This is a lifelong dream of mine to play the piano and it is finally coming true thanks to Frank King.
