Established in 1974, Gateway to Learning provides academic and prevocational education to mentally challenged children from age 3 to 21 with behavior disorders and emotional disturbances. Based in Chicago, Ill., the institute also offers prevocational programs for mentally challenged adults aged 21 and over. Its specialized programs provide adults with a place to develop and use their skills. Gateway to Learning is certified by the Illinois Department of Human Services. Its children's education and training program is also accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education.
