Solutions First Legal Services, P.C. is an Illinois law and mediation firm specializing in divorce, family and small or closely held business legal matters. AWFUL--DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!!!!!

Predatory Billing: The owner, Robin Becker, originally told me that order of protection cases can usually be done for $500 or $1000. After paying a retainer of $1000, I heard no mention of money until months later, when I received a call from her secretary, informing me that the charges were now $6000. I later spoke with Robin, who assured me not to worry, that most of the billing was done. I went on a payment plan, and kept up with it, but a few months after that, out of nowhere, Robin informed me that the legal bills must be paid right away, and that the total charges were now $18000.

When I told Robin I simply couldn't come up with all that money so quickly, she recommended that I give her my 401(k). I didn't have one, and from the stress of trying to pay her, I wound up in the hospital.

Unhappy that I couldn't pay her the large sum of money she wanted, Robin immediately lost interest in the case, and two days before the court hearing, she sent me a one-line email stating that her associate, Steve Peck, would represent me for most of the hearing instead. Steve has all of 3 years of experience, and is an awful litigator--very timid. Additionally, I had never even met him or had a conversation with him, he didn't know the background of the case, and not surprisingly, we lost. Her firm lost completely, it was a total defeat, and then she started to try to charge the rest of her fees, which must be about $25000 by now!

When you speak with Robin, she will sound very confident and competent. Do not be fooled--she is a very underhanded businesswoman.
