Newton Conover Middle School is a public institution that offers educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades six through eight. Located in Newton, N.C., the school has a student strength of more than 650 and in addition to a basic curriculum for each grade level, the students are offered exploratory classes, such as band, chorus, art, foreign language, drama, service careers, technology, computer literacy, office assistant, guidance assistance, library assistant, teacher assistance and videography. The academically gifted students are offered communication, math and computer skills. The school has a parent boosters program that calls for parental involvement in all aspects of school life. Volunteers help in a variety of ways, including tutoring, assisting with fundraisers, chaperoning field trips and proctoring state testing. The parents are also encouraged to take part in team nights and attend report card conferences. The institution is affiliated with the Newton Conover City Schools.
