I brought my car to Bays of Thunder on July 3rd. I specifically asked them to call me to discuss any unexpected work or costs. They charged me $400 more than their quote for work on my clutch without discussing with me. I asked them to look at a brake caliper that was sticking, and they ended up changing out the caliper and my rear brakes (which were only 3 months old) without speaking to me first, at a cost of $455 (including three hours of labor!). An oil change was $34, which isn't criminal, but a lousy deal none the less.



With other miscellaneous work thrown in, total charges were about $1,000 above what was quoted, and mostly unexpected and never discussed ahead of time. The car was not done until July 29th, twenty six days after I dropped it off.



This shop is where nightmares about mechanics are born. The work took forever, they ran up our bill without discussing it with us, their communication was horrible until the bill was due. I would recommend avoiding this shop.
