Anschutz Corporation is a holding and investment company based in Denver. Philip Anschutz, as chairman and chief executive officer, has created a diverse portfolio of investments over a wide array of industries. The company owns several professional soccer teams; a large portion of the Los Angeles Lakers; major arenas in Los Angeles, such as the Staples Center, as well as in London and Berlin; oil refineries and pipelines; a Hollywood production company; and a large stake in Qwest Communications, a fiber-optic, data transmission and telecommunications company. Anschutz Corporation, along with its partner Oaktree Capital Management, has also acquired debt positions in exhibitors United Artists, Regal Cinemas and Edwards Theatres.
