Mark Mankins, MD worked alongside many Iowa Clinic surgeons while completing his general surgery residency in Des Moines. He believed they were extraordinarily competent and compassionate surgeons and is excited to be a part of the team. Dr. Mankins chose Cardiothoracic Surgery because he enjoys the complex and challenging nature of the field. Being able to share in a patient’s success after they recover from a major health problem is what he finds to be the most gratifying aspect of his job.
