Emergency Nurses Association is the national association for professional nurses dedicated to the advancement of emergency nursing practice, and is based in Des Plains, Ill. Established in 1971, its membership is open to staff nurses and other nursing practitioners, students and educators. It endorses a recognized certification program that acknowledges competence and achievement in emergency nursing. In addition, the association offers educational opportunities, an effective networking system and group insurance coverage. It monitors and addresses federal and state legislation affecting emergency nursing health care and practice. Emergency Nurses Association also publishes a monthly newsletter that helps members remain in touch with current clinical practice and trends in emergency nursing.
