Established in 1961, the Hampshire Fire Protection District provides fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical and specialized rescue services, hazardous materials response and public education programs. It serves an area of more than 40 square miles and employs more than 30 full-time and paid-on-call members. The department s fleet of apparatus includes ambulances, brush trucks, command vehicles, engines, squads, medical carts and tower ladders. The Hampshire Fire Protection District supports various training and fire prevention programs, such as fire station tours, residential smoke detector programs, fire evacuation drills, blood pressure screening and first aid training. It operates a communication center that coordinates responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls. The department is located in Hampshire, Ill.
