The Special Education Department, administered by the Genesee Intermediate School District, employs more than 500 professionals. The department offers special education services for students with mental and developmental disabilities throughout Genesee County in Michigan. It provides technical assistance to local school districts and public school academies. The Special Education Department Day offers treatment programs for students suffering from emotional impairment conditions. The department also provides vocational assessment and orientation and mobility services. In addition, it offers physical and occupational therapies. The Special Education Department provides consultation solutions for students with autism spectrum disorder. The department provides classroom programs for students with early childhood developmental delays.
