Let me just start by saying I am so thankful I went to get a second opinion from another dentist after my fiasco with Dr. Tamer Michiel. Be careful if you go here because he lacks honesty and integrity. He sent me to Dr. Sabourn for a root canal because my tooth was abscessed. (I later found out this is his good buddy) I went to have the root canal done, which cost me $800 that I paid out-of-pocket. When I went back to Dr. Michaels two weeks later to have the permanent filling put in he told me that the tooth did not look good and could not be saved after all and would have to be extracted. WHAT? And of course, dentists do not give out refunds for failed root canals. When I voiced my concern to him, he seemed very uncaring and insensitive. The only choice he gave me was to extract the tooth and replace with implant $6000. In the beginning, he told me that the bridge was fine and could be saved as long as I went to get a root canal. Something in my gut did not feel right and I went to get a second opinion and it turns out the tooth is fine and can be saved and I just need a new bridge, which will only be half the cost of implants. When I told this dentist that Dr. Michiels said the tooth could not be saved, he just shook his head in confusion. It really saddens me that there are dentists out their practicing with the main intent of filling up their own bank account at the expense of others being dependant on dentists when work is needed, not at all concerned about people who are struggling to get dental work done, and have to possibly skip a house payment to pay a dental bill, in my case, an $800 root canal. I might as well have thrown that money in the garbage. I would have respected him much more if he would have told me in the beginning to just extract the tooth if it did not look good, but even then he would have pulled out a tooth that could have been saved. Again, I am so thankful I got a second opinion. It scares me that people like this are practicing dentistry.
