Baxter Community Center, located in Grand Rapids, Mich., helps individuals through a variety of programs and partnerships. The center s facilities include daycare for children from infancy to age 12, holistic health clinic, family assistance, Mizizi Maji mentoring program and recreation and fitness. The daycare center works in coordination with Kent Regional 4-C, Kent County Head Start and the Kent County Family Independence Agency and is licensed by the state of Michigan. The center s clinic teaches families about preventative care and proper nutrition and regular physicals and immunizations are given to pregnant and post-partum women and children through the Women, Infants and Children program. It also conducts counseling programs and health screening for adults at risk for diabetes or high blood pressure.
