Dr. Trimble is a great surgeon. He did an ACL graft on my right knee after I snapped my ACL. He was very practical and laid out the options available to me, explaining the risk & reward of each. Also, he was available for questions and gave easy to understand responses. He’s world class.

To speak to the other review of the guy who couldn’t get a knee replacement in his 40’s, it is not uncommon for surgeons to refuse knee replacements for someone that young. With each knee replacement, the patient looses bone length, resulting in the inability to do a knee replacement more than 2-3 times (in most cases). The average life of a synthetic knee is 10 years. This means that if a person has a knee replacement at 45, they would need another at 55, 65 & (if possible, 75). With people commonly living into their 100’s now days, it’s viewed as irresponsible for a surgeon to do a knee replacement on someone younger than 55-60. My husband is 40 and has already investigated this option because of damaged done to his knee during his youth. It sucks, but it definitely has its merits.

I have had two arthroscopic surgeries on my left knee over the years both due to tearing of the meniscus cartilage in that knee and I have been told after the second surgery that if anything needed to be done to the knee I was most likely going to be looking at a knee replacement. Steroid & Supartz shots did not work.

He reviewed the x-rays they took that day of my knee he concurred that there was no need to look at doing another arthroscopic surgery. He said due to my age, 47, he would not even consider doing a knee transplant.

He would still not consider it due to my age. I emphasized just how much pain I was going through, I mentioned to him that I just couldn't imagine going another 8 to 10 years with this level of pain much less when it got worse as I know it will over time, it certainly isn't going to get any better.

His reply to me was to shrug his shoulders. Basically it felt to me like he was saying "man up, stop whining and deal with it".
