Lake Inn is a basic motel. But it meets those expectations

Instead of paying a national chain $125, we paid a locally owned business only $75 to stay. We used to own a condo in the area, and still visit on occasions and we always stay at the Lake Inn. I do not think there is enough room demand to support a national motel chain.

Theres nothing negative to say about Lake Inn. Friendly, courteous staff, clean, comfortable rooms, and excellent prices for the area. Loved the in season breakfast. and the quest PC in the lobby.

My husband and I decided on a whim to take our boat up to Smith Mountain Lake for 2 days, and just needed an inexpensive place to stay for 1 night. After calling several places in the area, we decided to stay at the Lake Inn. Like I said in the title, it suited our purpose. I thought the service both on the telephone and in person were very good. We had a room with a queen bed (VERY firm), TV, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Our bathroom had a stand-up shower only, but I presume they have rooms available with a tub if you need one. We didn't try to get on the internet, so I don't know about the wi-fi service. The facilities were very clean, but definitely dated. The room key was literally a key on a keyring with the room number. I haven't seen one of those in years! The air conditioning worked very well

Great room, and great price for the area. We were visiting family in the area, and needed a place to stay. Most places we stopped were very expensive, and the clerks were not so nice. We found the Lake Inn and were pleasantly surprised by how nice the clerk was and how affordable the rooms were. We were even more shocked that the rooms were so clean and spacious. We will definitely return in the future, and eat at the delicious restaurant behind the hotel, Joe's.

I really liked the Lake Inn. It's clean, the employees were helpful, polite and friendly. Did I mention it's clean? Our room was absolutely spotless when we checked in. It's very convenient to the lake and to stores and restaurants. It's not fancy, pretty basic actually, but if you're not looking for all the bells and whistles, it should suit you just fine. The rooms are pretty good-sized for a budget motel as well. There are a few things, though, that you should know. The mattresses were a bit "firm" for my taste (which is, of course, subjective) and the pillows definitely need an upgrade; I would take my own next time. The towels, however, are definitely steps above what you would expect. Microwave, coffeemaker and mini-fridge in each room. The breakfast is average, donuts/pastries, cereal, toast/bagels, fruit and milk, juice and coffee. They sell ice in the office, which is convenient. And, they are pet-friendly!

We booked our room in March for our July vacation. The staff on the phone was friendly and my reservation process was easy.. The staff at check in was polite and provided us with discount meal/golf tickets and plenty of brochures and maps for site seeing. Our room was clean and already cool when walking in. This trip we also traveled with our dog and this was the only facility around that would accept pets. It is an inexpensive, clean and comfortable room and close to everything when visiting Smith Mountain Lake. We would definitely stay here again.
