I left a bull elk (5 point) to be cut and wrapped. Animal had to be over 500# and closer to 600#. They did not weigh it ( I won't make that mistake again) since they charge a set fee. I got back 90# of boned meat. I have had several elk processed before and have never had as much loss. When I asked why, I was told it was because it was quartered in field. I have done that before too with no problem. I won't be going back

After a very bad experience where they "mixed up" my prime beef steer (990#) with a hamburger cow - charging me for the 990 butchering and I only got 100# quarter back, most of which is not fit to eat, I decided errors happen and I'd give them a second chance.I took identical hog to the two area butchers. Tiezers returned 89% of my hog. Montana City Meats returned 96%. (I took them in only needing skinning) A part of the vacuum wrapping was not done well and left air against the meat. The trim was 100% larger than the other. The staff may be friendly, but for the loss of meat, I won't go back - ever. I'll stay with Montana City Meat! My animals are tagged and go through by themselves, the package labels don't look like bio-hazard labels, the labels on the packages are custom to your cut and wrap instructions, and the packaging is the best I have ever seen.
