I also wrote the review titled "stay away" in October. I will give you a higher rating to negate my last one only because I was really angry when I wrote it. I was misinformed about the contact Patty had with my insurance company as they had stated that "they had no record of her contacting them about my benefits". I have since been given proof by Dr Stephens that she had been in contact with them. However, I stand by the fact that I was lied to. Patty did tell me that the procedure would be $150 per quadrant and then the next appointment that number changed to $200. I was reasonable and agreed to pay the portion of that that I owed which I was told was 50%. By the time it came for the third quadrant, Patty had received a letter from my insurance company that they were denying the claims. I am aware that this is not the dental office fault but I feel she should have told me this before I went in for my appointment instead of waiting until directly after. That would have saved me the $200 that day until a later time when I could afford to pay the whole thing outright. I am the sole provider for my family and spending a thousand dollars on my teeth was not a priority at this point in time. Also, Patty told me that I should get new X-rays done, and that my insurance company covers one X-ray every year. I agreed seeing as it would be covered. I had just had X-rays done about 15 months prior. Later I found out my insurance company only covers one X-ray every 5 years. Both of these things are in fact factually true events in which I have a witness to everything that was said by both myself and the staff at Dr Stephens office. This being said, Dr Stephens is extremely nice as is his staff. I just think it's only fair that if you are going to tell your patients a specific price, then that is the price that should be charged and you should always be sure you are giving accurate information.

Any quote you receive from this place, make sure to get it in writing! I originally went in here because I had a tooth that needed to be pulled and that part went fine. Brett Stephens then went on to tell me that I had periodontal gum disease and I needed to get root planing and scaling done before it got worse. I gave my insurance information to the receptionist and she said she would call them to figure out how much coverage I had and what would be covered. I went back in a couple weeks later and she said she had spoken to my insurance company and that they would be covering half of the procedure, which was $150 per quadrant. That would then make my portion to cover $75. I got the first quadrant done and scheduled the second one for the following week. When I arrived, the receptionist "couldn't remember where we got the $150 number from" and decided that the procedure was actually $200 per quadrant. I paid her the $100 for my portion and did the second quadrant. I then went back for the third quadrant and she had received a letter the day before stating that I did not nee these procedures done and she waited until AFTER my appointment that day to tell me. She said we could file an appeal and we would need to send in Xrays. She asked when the last time I had an Xray done and I told her it was in 2013. She said my insurance covers 1 xray per year so she wanted to take some since it wouldn't cost me anything. A few days later I decided to call my insurance company myself and what I found out from them shocked me. Brett Stephens office NEVER called my insurance company! The receptionist straight lied to my face. My insurance company had my Xrays reviewed by a licensed dentist and determined that I never needed the work done in the first place! I also found out that my insurance only covers 1 X-ray every FIVE years. I cannot believe that Brett Stephens and his staff would actively lie to a patient in order to screw them out of money. I will not be returning to this office. I will make sure EVERYONE knows about the bad business practices going on here and I am also filing a report with the Better Business Bureau. Brett Stephens needs to know it is NOT OKAY to treat patients like this. I guess my first clue that I needed to find another dentist was the fact that over the course of 4 appointment, I never saw another patient in that office.

January 25th 2014 I was in soo much pain. I was at work and it literally just hit me. The pain went from my tooth into my face and was even affecting my eye. I was so embarrassed I told my boss it was a "headache". I have never missed work and I am never late or call in, it was so bad I had to leave the office and go straight home. My boss so upset due to our strict attendance policy, but due to my very good attendance record he let me go. He did state however that he didnt care what was going on with me that whatever the outcome I better be at work tomorrow because he didnt want to get called in.. jerk I know. I was so lucky because when I got home I was able to call 24 hour dentists online. I was sent to voicemail 3 times and got so upset because if it was 24 hour service and they knew it was an emergency why would they not pick up?. I almost gave up but then I called Dr. Stephens. He immediately picked up the phone. In my mind I thought is this guy real? Hes a Dentist and he answers his own calls?.. I explained him my situation, he assured me we can get it all taken care of tonight. He even quoted me a price and told me it included everything. I was really impressed because I am a single mom and I cannot afford "hidden costs". I also cannot afford losing my job due to not making it into work the next day. He told me to text him.. Crazy Right? He texted me back a time and even sent a location/ map to link to my GPS on my phone just so I knew how to get there. I got to the office totally nervous, I have been to dentists before and I have seen the good bad and ugly to all of their work. I filled out a form, he came in shortly after and we talked a little about my problem. He took a look at my tooth and said with such ease that he was totally confident in taking care of it tonight so I am no longer in pain. He numbed it up and kept asking about my pain level and I found that impressive that he really sympathized with me and didnt want to create more pain. Some dentists dont care and force you to deal with it. I was done in 1 hour, it was so fast my family was shocked that I was home already. My kids had gone to bed already but had seen me in tears because of the pain. When I awoke the next morning they were surrounding my bed stroking my hair. They asked me if I was okay from the Dentist office the night before. I smiled and was soo excited to tell them all about my positive experiance with my new Dentist. I never want them to be afraid of the Dentist like so many people are. Its a privelege to meet people like DR. BRETT. STEPHENS who care about the people they help. I have been bragging about him to all of my girlfriends and now they tease me that I should have him on speed dial. And as for work... I went in the next day with no problem. I smiled on the inside knowing that my grumpy boss never got up on me from missing a day from work... I was really pleased with his work. His office assistant even texted me on Monday and asked how I was doing... They didnt judge me for making poor teeth habits in my past and they are willing to help me from now on..
