Provided by YP.comHad a wedding to go to in 2 weeks. Had not worn my nice 3 piece Kenneth Cole suit in years. Yeah it was that type of wedding were you needed a 3 piece. Anyways tried it on and it was a little big on me. Called Macys in Newport to get an estimate to do some alterations and I might as well just bought a cheap 3 piece suit. Anyways started calling other places around town and at least some prices were not that crazy, but some places were also swamped with work and I would need all 3 pieces altered to look nice and fitted.
Started googling for more places and saw Lucinda's on yelp pop up and even though there are no reviews it was very close since its right across from St. Cecilia's Church. Called and there was a slight language barrier since she is more Spanish fluent, but nothing to be lost at communicating. Anyways she told me even though she was busy to just pass by and she could take a look at the suit and be able to see how much work would need to be done.
Passed by and she was very accommodating took my measurements and started pinning up my suit and just from that the entire suit changed and fit my body properly. She also added other suggestions on what other things she should do to make it look properly fit if I wanted to go the extra mile on extra alterations. She did that to one side of the suit and I was like wow that looks so much better. I initially was just looking to have the jacket taken in and have the sleeves shorten since the pants I would just use a belt on and the vest had that back belt strap to adjust. Once she pinned the entire suit and showed me how much better the entire 3 pieces altered would truly look like I was amazed.
I asked how long it would take since now it would be all three pieces and she guaranteed she would make sure it would be done two days before the wedding (around 10 day turnaround). Of course the next part was how much since other places were only quoting me on the jacket getting taken in and shortening the arm lengh not including if the jacket would need even more alterations once they pinned it up to see how it looks.
Anyways the total price for all of this was soooo fair and that included the jacket getting taken in and the arms not only cut length wise, but also width wise. The pants getting shortened and more narrow. Last the vest getting taken in. She also said that the way she was going to do it was to also hide some of the extra fabric inside. That way if in the future it needed to be let out a bit she could instead of me having to buy a new suit which I think was just great on her part. She said it would have been a little more expensive if she had to cut the length of the jacket and vest, but since it was more about having it taken in I was able to save on that.
Anyways her price was very fair just the price for the jacket alone and she was doing more things to it like narrowing the arm width was like around $30 less than the other places I called and gave me a price for just getting it taken in and shortening the length of the arms.
I can tell she is very fair in her prices and has a lot of repeat customers. One guy came in asking about his suit jacket and she actually recommend for him to buy a new one because all the work it would need was not worth it for him to spend.
Bottom line when I picked up my suit it looked great all 3 pieces. I even brought another suit for her to do. This time it's for my brother. He is shorter than me and I still have a new suit from when I was his age and it fits him but is very long on him. She took his measurements and once again gave a fair price for the jacket and pants and can't wait to see how it will turn out.
