I cannot comment on the amenities or cleanliness because they wouldn’t even let us drive around or go the the tiki bar for something to eat and drink! Me and my family have been coming here camping since I was 8 years old when it was Firsta Key KOA. I’m now 58. Do the math. Haha. Anyway, we went thru the conversion when it was sold and they were gonna build condos, but it fell thru. Then they added permanent trailers with lofts for rent on the north side. We brought our kids camping here when they were 8-10 years old and now they’re 37 and 39. They office was also a camp store. So when we asked to just drive around and see how it’s changed, they wouldn’t allow it. They didn’t want us 4 adults (58 and over) disrupting the peace and quiet enjoyment of their guest (all 10 of them) haha. They said, “we can give you a map and you can make a reservation and come drive thru”. WHAT??? It’s still a campground and this is just an example of “snooty” that we could never imagine this rustic, cool, family campground that it used to be. They didn’t want us old folks to raise any hell, but yet as we were leaving, we observed 8 policemen standing around a vehicle (pulling an Airstream inside the campground). We are just so disappointed on how standoffish this place is now. Don’t believe we will ever come back.
