Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Steven C. Allgood has provided patients with comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services at the Mason City Clinic since 1992. He also shares his extensive knowledge and experience with young doctors as a Clinical Instructor with the Mason City Family Practice Residency Program, University of Iowa General Surgery Residency and the University of Iowa PA Program. Dr. Allgood completed a Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Med at Iowa State University and his medical degree a the University of Iowa College of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Aploha medical honor society and recipient of the Department of Surgery Award. After graduating, Dr. Allgood completed General Surgery resident training at Hennepin County Medical Center and Butterworth Hospital/Michigan State University. Dr. Allgood has been the head of the Mercy Center for Breast Health for 20 years. He is actively involved in the Medical community, participating in several research studies regarding advances in surgical treatments and has made presentations at local and national society meetings to discuss findings. He remains up-to-date and informed through his membership in several professional organizations, including: · American College of Surgeons, Fellow · Midwest Surgical Society · North Central Cancer Treatment Group · Iowa Oncology Research Association · Iowa Medical Society · Iowa Academy of Surgeons · Cerro Gordo County Medical Society · Christian Medical and Dental Association In addition to his practice experience, Dr. Allgood also served as a Colonel in the Medical Corp of the United States Army Reserves.
