Did not call me to make sure it was ok for him to do the things he said he did. Fixed things that I did not ask him to, that I could do myself, like new windshield wipers and a quart of oil. I asked him to look at my ball bearings, find out why my car was not idling right, and to find out why my car was rattling. Charged me almost $100 for new windshield wipers, 1 quart of oil, and clamps for my exhaust (the rattling). So in essence he fixed one of the things that I asked him to do, the rest of the cost I could have spent maybe $50 at most. So no I would not recommend someone who does not call to verify if he can make the necessary changes and then expect you to pay whether you like it or not.
