Mattoon Middle School is an educational institution that provides academic instruction to students in grades six through eight. It conducts classes in social studies, science, language arts, math, industrial technology, family and consumer science, and health and physical education. The school administers the Self-contained Emotional Disability Program. It also organizes athletic activities, as well as offers opportunities for students to participate in various student organizations. Mattoon Middle School has a media center that features a collection of more than 35,000 books and administers an accelerated reader program. It is governed by Mattoon Community Unit School District 2, which operates through human resources and transportation departments.
