The Addison County Independent was founded in 1946 with the closing of the Middlebury Register. It is a family-owned independent newspaper. The Addison Independent covers 23 towns of the Addison County in Vermont. The newspaper covers most of the local institutions on the front page itself. In addition to the editorial and advertising staffs, the newspaper employs graphic designers, circulation people, receptionists and accounting personnel. The publication is located in Middlebury, Vt.
