Founded in 1885, Dakota Wesleyan University is a four-year university offering a wide variety of educational programs to students. It offers various courses through its departments that include art, business administration, communications and theatre, computers and multimedia, criminal justice, education and English. The university s other departments include history and political science, human services, music, math, nursing, physical education, psychology, religion and philosophy and sports management. It has athletic teams for baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, volleyball and wrestling. The university s campus ministry offers worship, student ministry council, student fellowships and retreats. Located in Mitchell, S.D., the university is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and enrolls more than 700 students.
