Dr. Stuart earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at the prestigious Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University Medical Center. While at Columbia University, Dr. Stuart conducted research in advanced neuro-monitoring techniques for acute brain injury and has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters. A Charleston native, Dr. Stuart specializes in all aspects of spine surgery, as well as the management of primary and metastatic brain tumors. He also uses advanced technology such as frameless image guidance systems and stereotactic Cyber Knife radiosurgery. Dr. Stuart believes that dedication both to the best in surgical advancements and to the quality of the physician-patient relationship allows him to provide the optimum opportunity for helping patients deal with complex neurosurgical problems. Dr. Stuart is the President of the South Carolina Association of Neurological Surgeons (SCANS).
