About In October 1974, Metro Communications Corporation (later Willis Broadcasting Corporation), owned by Levi Willis, acquired WWOC and WOWI (102.9 FM. This was a historical moment as WWOC and WOWI became the first two Black-owned stations in the market. The call letters of WWOC were changed to WPCE on July 1, 1975, and the station initially converted to an R& B format before flipping to a gospel by 1977. In January 2016, Katrina Chase, Executor of the Willis estate, took over management under the new name of Christian Broadcasting Company (CBC). The entire organization was later restructured and rebranded to CBC: Your #1 Black Media Network.
