Provided by YP.comWhile me and my husband was in VA for a short time my bird broke her leg. We took her to Blue Ridge we wasnt told much just she had broken the leg and the wing. I said oh well the wing broke once over a year ago is it the same break she said not sure would have to do a xray (witch i thought was off they didnt take one). all we was really told was keep her in something like a box so she cant cllimb and give her drops bring her back in a week and the splints can come off in 4 weeks. Well just before 2 weeks we had to go back home to IL so i started calling local vets looking for a avain vet witch there isnt one but another vet offered to see her until we find one she didnt know much about birds but was worried the foot wouldnt respond to touch so she called Blue Ridge and they said that wasnt that odd not to worry. about time for the splints to come off i found a vet 3 hours away the first thing she said was i have never seen splints done done like this on a bird a dog maybe but not a bird. so she removed the splints and did xrays. the wing had never rebroke it was the same for over a year so her body was all wraped up for no reason. The splint on the leg did not stop the bones from moving so the leg bones were barley touching but worse of all way the tape they had used at Blue Ridge had grown tighter over time so my birds skin had strated to die in another week she could of lost the leg. So insted of me having a healed bird i had a bird that was worse off then if i hadnt splinted it at all. So for amlost 2 weeks i had to lightly wrap the leg so the ainti. wouldnt get in her feathers and hope the skin would heal well it did and she regained some of the grip back in the foot. But then she fell off her perch and rebroke the leg...got her back to the vet the plan being for the vet to fuff up the ends of the bone (because with the parts that was unattched may have sealed over so even if she would line up the bone they may not grab) and ether just splint it or put a pin in it. But she had a little bleeding so couldnt do it tell the bleeding stops so just splinted it...if Blue Ridge would of splinted it right i wouldnt be paying $300 vet bills just lucky that this vets splint is good and already in one week has her grip back and may not need to ruff the bones or the pin. I wont ever go nback to Blue Ridge i called just to tel them how bad there work was a girl at the dest told me i would be called back...ha guess what no one ever called
