It advocates total abstinence and has more than 117,000 groups and approximately 2,000,000 members in more than 180 countries. The organization conducts a Twelve Steps program offering a variety of solutions to recover from alcoholism. In addition, Alcoholics Anonymous conducts meetings at correctional as well as treatment facilities. The organization is a part of Alcoholics Anonymous World Services Inc.
