The Rome Fire Department is a progressive department provides fire protections and other services and is dedicated to the protection of life and property of the residents of Rome and Floyd County, Ga. There are approximately 10 fire stations housing personnel and state-of-the-art fire apparatus providing services to nearly 90,000 people in a service area of more than 500 square miles. The department organization consists of three divisions. Emergency operations and emergency pre-planning are the primary missions of the suppressions division. The support division is responsible for maintenance services, personnel training services, purchasing and other support services. The division of fire prevention is responsible for fire code inspections and enforcement, public education, fire investigations, maintenance of the incident reporting system and other activities in support of other department services.
