Whenever I visit Sarasota, I make a special effort to get over to Pennie Fabrics.

I so agree with Linda C's review of this truly wonderful store and its proprietor. With an eye for beauty and quality as well as a kind demeanor focused on serving, Mr. Mahmud is the epitome of what it means to take pride in one's work. Each time I return to the area, this is a must stop during my trip. Just fabulous!

Is it possible to rate this 6-Stars? I wasn't expecting much from the modest building but was I ever wrong. II was really impressed with the exceptional quality and selection of specialty fabrics. And the prices were reasonable. Mr. Mahmud has ties to the NYC wholesale fabric industry and the sophistication of his offerings shows. Just remarkable. What a treat for Sarasota and worth a drive from just about anywhere on the suncoast.

Extraordinary selections of fabrics. I mean extraordinary. Heads and shoulders above all the rest in Sarasota. Nasir Mahmud is extremely accommodating and genteel.

Fantastic local fabric store, specializing in apparel fabrics. They have every type of fabric you could want., and the customer service is exceptional. The owner, Nasir, always remembers me when I come in. He is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I love visiting Pennie Fabrics.
