Provided by YP.comWhen you talk about “good to great”, Company's like Goodwill Central Coast fit only in the “good” category amongst truly great fortune 500 company's. Goodwill Central Coast does do a lot of good and staying close to their roots, their communities, by providing employment to those who need job placement or lack of business skills. Goodwill Central Coast in the other hand doesn't seek talented individuals with the proper retail, management, customer service experience. They hire employees who lack in these skills and then have them train new staff. This is the blind leading the blind. No employee is ever given proper training. When you first start, you are thrown “out to the wolfs” and are expect to preform to company standards. No one employee has any type of ownership when making decisions on behalf of the company even at the manager level, one needs to seek approval, upon approval, upon approval, it is no wonder why everyone seems to be confused and going in circles when entering one of these stores. You have a person running a store that is responsible for all store assets, which I remind you all inventory is given, donated goods from the the goodwill of its community. Goodwill Central Coast never gives its employees any authority to make sound decisions. Employees are told they can't shop during work days and if so not in their store, but can on days off. Is Goodwill Central Coast implying that their employees money isn't green enough or good enough to go back into the very company they work for? Restricting their employees with the whole idea of one unique item that no item can be placed on hold for any one customer. If that is a fact, then why are employees restricted from this? is this not a form of holding? Also, Store Managers are given the right to write work schedules, but yet need approval from District Manager to change the schedule. Goodwill Central Coast refers to their employees as “Associates”, but last I remember “Associate” is defined as a partner, yet aren’t treated as a partner. As in most firms "Johnson and Johnson Associates" but in no way are the employees made to believe or lack of that the company refers to them as a partner. In no way are Goodwill Central Coast employees partners, if so then why aren't the employee sharing in the profit margin? Goodwill Central Coast has a lot of rough beginnings that they’re going through, being that they’re trying to get away from the yesterday’s “grandma and grandpa store” and trying to stay modern in today's younger generation of young adults who will be the ones keeping their business afloat. While Goodwill Central Coast is okay for those who are seeking skills, it is not for the person who already has knowledge, and skills in their work history. This company has too many politics and is not a competitive company when it comes to pay. They will hire you at retail and pay you in wholesale.
