From a very young age. I was drawn to the idea of helping other people. Growing up, I saw my father taking care of his patients with compassion and with his heart. And as I start this journey, as a resident at Mercy, that's what I want to do: something good for my patients. Internal medicine is a very interesting field. In internal medicine, we work as a large team, and we work with other departments to provide comprehensive medical care. We build connections with patients and see their journey to recovery from ailments. When I see my patients, I always try to connect with them at the personal level. I always ask them how they are, how their families are. I try to understand the other factors that could be the reason for their health problems. They appreciate when I develop that connection with them. It helps me treat them better.
