The gray skies, rain, snow and cold was the catalyst that started the journey from Long Island, NY to Bradenton, FL. Dr. Saul Ladd and Dr. Alan Katz had been partners since 1960, meeting at the Civic Hospital in Detroit, MI, where Dr. Katz was a resident Podiatric physician. They built the original office with 6 treatment rooms, operating room and lab at the corner of 18th Street and Cortez Road, just where it is today. Within 3 years 6 more treatment rooms were added and the laboratory was enlarged. In 1989 Cortez Foot and Ankle Specialists had the first pediatric surgical center in the state of Florida. A second story was added to accommodate the surgical suite. Today we have 7 doctors, all board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Two O.R. nurses along with fifteen Podiatric and x-ray technicians that care for our surgical patients. Many members of this talented group have worked at Cortez Foot and Ankle Specialists for over fifteen years. Today there are 3 locations in Manatee and Sarasota counties serving the community.
