Poppy’s Butt Shak was born from a passion which Dave Partin, Sr. (Poppy to his family members) had for cooking and sharing his barbecue, along with other special dishes; not only with his family, but his church, special functions and his many, many friends. Poppy was born during the great depression at his home in Kathleen, Florida, but was raised in South Georgia where his family ran a restaurant in downtown Thomasville for many years. For more than 70 years, Poppy perfected his barbecue recipes, passing his secrets on to just a few lucky family members.
