After practicing Chiropractic for 10 years, I decided to become a carpenter. My introduction to carpentry was as a teenager building a dingy in the basement one winter with my Father. He was a mechanical engineer by training and he taught me to be careful and patient. When I traded my tie for a flannel shirt, I started a small contracting company in Guilford, Connecticut, named Level Best Building Co. I built additions, did repairs and ran a small carpentry crew. Besides repairs, we remodeled kitchens and baths. In the last few years I did a lot of copper work while repairing roofing, especially slate roofing. In 27 years of work Ive picked up a lot of trade skills, inside and out. The whys of buildings fascinate me. There are reasons why homes fail or endure. There are lasting ways to do things and not so good ways. Knowing the difference, whether for a simple drywall repair, when installing a window or venting a roof means a lasting repair and a satisfied homeowner. I enjoy working on homes and like to help people. In my off time, I volunteer my carpentry skills building or doing repairs for a couple of organizations. My wife Barbara and I are now residents of Wendell, North Carolina.
