My child(age5)needs extensive work(4 fillings-2 caps)the nurse explained in detail the procedure to be used while my child was there listening to every word!I could see my child becoming visibly agitated as the conversation went on.The nurse told me to get valium from the pharmacy.When we came back to get the work done they would adminster the valium and then strap my child to a papoose board while the work was done.My child would be awake but groggy during this time.They wanted me to schedule this for the very next morning.I said I wanted to wait a little bit to calm my child down and research this but they insisted I make the appt and just get it done ASAP.When I left I called my regular dentist and got a referral to a different dentist.I made an appt at the new dentist.Just got home from that appt and my child is no longer terrorized by the word dentist.The new dentist will be doing the same work but with better bedside manner. There will NOT be any use of the papoose board.
