Built in 1807 for Captain William Nickels, this high Federal style mansion is a testament to Wiscasset's heyday as a seaport. Purchased by the Sortwell family in 1899, the house was lovingly restored and decorated in the Colonial Revival style. Tours are given on the half house. Admission is free for members of Historic New England. For non-members, admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2.50 for children over 5.
