I was appalled when I called the office to make an appointment with the Dr. My regular Dr. was on vacation and Dr. Desmarais was filling in. When the receptionist answered the phone, I was greeted by her telling me that I was going to have to be put on hold because she was all alone and she had two people waiting. After I waited patiently for a few minutes, she came back on the phone and I explained how I had been sick for a few weeks, I was at work and was coughing when I suddenly felt a pop and was in extreme pain. She sighed and said "I WISHED you would've called earlier today. The Dr. would've wanted to see you. Then she proceeded to say in an exasperated tone "What is your name". I told her to forget it and hung up. I was in too much pain to try to talk to an Office Manager or even the Dr. to let them know how unprofessional and RUDE their staff was. I ended up going to an Urgent care and discovered I have bronchitus and a fractured rib! I'm just still reeling at how nasty this woman was to me and just the tone of her voice...like I was a big bother for her. She had absolutely NO compassion. I don't know how Dr. Desmarais is as a Dr....I didn't get that far. I'm sure that there are a lot of people who have changed their minds about seeing him just because of how they're treated by the person answering the phones. I will definitely be letting my Dr. know how I was treated and as many other people as I can. The Dr. should NOT have someone like that representing his office.
