Tim was our service man. He was great! Arrived promptly and was able to diagnose the problem within 5 minutes. He ordered the part immediately and it came to us overnight. The one thing I thought was GREAT was I received an email with a photo of Tim before he came...and also a tracking link so I knew approximately when he would be at the house! Thank you Fred's Appliance!!

In all honesty I CANNOT recommend them - wish I had another option but they are the company that our warranty makes us use. They've been out 4x to fix our washer and today after running only 4 loads - it's broken AGAIN. This has been going on 6 wks. You would think if you describe the problem over the phone they would at least attempt to bring parts with them on the first trip. I swear they make their $$$'s by the # of times they come to your house. So the first time they came - they assessed it , had to order parts and returned in a week, next time same thing. Also (due to no fault of their own, weather, they had to postpone our appt 2x). When it wasn't fixed, they came out for a 2nd assessment - same routine, order parts, wait another week. Out yesterday and after only 4 loads - it's down for the count AGAIN! I would avoid using them, if I were you.

Never again. We had service done to our dishwasher a few months ago. The technician pulled it out of the space without unscrewing it from the cabinets, causing the clips to break and the unit to then have nothing to anchor it. He did the repair, shoved the dishwasher back in and left, leaving two plastic plugs on the floor that were supposed to go over the screw holes where he was supposed to screw the unit back in.

We thought the dishwasher rocked because the feet needed to be adjusted, which we did. But it wasn't right. It wants to fall out of the space every time we open the door! We finally had our contractor who had originally installed the dishwasher come in, he took a look and told us what had happened. We called Fred's and asked them to come out and fix this. After consultation with the "Vice-President of the company" they decided that they would come out but that we would have to pay for a service call and labor because the installation was out of warranty.

That may be true, but a business that made a mistake and cares about keeping its customers would eat the service call fee to make them happy. The technician's incompetence caused this problem, and they should fix it if asked to do so--regardless of the time that went by. There should be no statute of limitations on admitting to your error and making it right. That's just good business practice. We will NOT be using Fred's again.

Very impressed! After 3 service calls from another company, I finally feel like the problem with my oven is being resolved. Robert was very professional and Fred's Appliance staff seem very efficient. I appreciated the automated calls to let me know exactly when the technician was on his way. I would definitely recommend Fred's!

I had two visits from Fred's technician, Josh S. in the course of replacing an oven heating element. Scheduling of the visits was quick and flexible and allowed an easy fit into my schedule. For both visits, the technician was early and called to confirm each impending visit. On site, Josh was pleasant, informative, and efficient. Couldn't ask for more information, more patience, more positive attitude than what Josh brought to the job. On a scale of (1) to (5) where (1) is terrible and (5) is super, I'd rate Fred's and Josh as a (7) ;-)

I always dread calling for service on any appliance because the experience is usually not a pleasant one. Chad just completed work on my washer and I want to say how impressed I am with the whole experience. From the phone calls regarding the status, to the email with the ability to track the technician, to the professionalism and efficiency of the service...A+++.

The service tech from Fred's was very courteous, knowledgeable and quick. We had dryer problems and he showed us all the worn out defective items. He gave us a price to repair the old machine, but, recommended we purchase a new one for about the same price. So we did.

This is one business you can get excited about. You just don't see expertise combined with customer service like this anymore. Especially for anyone who is over 40 and remembers "Back in the day...." when great customer service was the norm, you will be especially pleased. They went out of their way to make sure that the entire customer experience was a positive one. They confirm your appointment via whatever phone numbers you give them and they call back if you have not yet taken the step to confirm your appt--then they even send you a photo of the technician who is expected to arrive at your home! Who does this?!! I loved it! In a day and age when safety concerns are paramount I thought this was an outstanding move. Then they give you a "heads up" call when the repairman is within 20 minutes of your home. Seriously, these touches make for a really nice experience! Not to mention the excellent and expert service you are given. My repairman, Eric, really knew what he was doing, and diagnosed my problem quickly. This is not the first time I have used this company and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for expert and professional appliance repair.

Fred’s Pricing is Outrageous

My Jenn-Air stove would not heat past 175 degrees. A call to Jenn-Air said Fred’s was the only authorized repair provider. The stove is out of warranty but Jenn-Air and I suspected the front electronic control was faulty and the part cost would be covered under their 5 year warranty. I took the chance and scheduled Fred’s to come out the first available date which was 5 calendar days later (no service on weekends.)

The tech arrived within the 4 hour window. Eric was professional but very cool or distant. Okay, I get it, his job is to fix the problem not socialize. I showed him the unit and gave him some repair history. He set to work and I went back to my upstairs office. About 10 minutes later, he called me down. The oven door was open, the floor removed and the bad part (an ignitor) was clearly visible. Eric had already written up the repair estimate - $303.89 including sales tax! WOW, the diagnosis, access to the part and a detailed estimate all in 10 or so minutes!!

Well folks, I bit the bullet and authorized the repair. Back to my office, and maybe 30 minutes later he called me down again saying he was done, that it had tested ok to 350 degrees. He showed me the temperature and it was indeed climbing past 350. GREAT! We can use the oven again.

Here is the bill breakdown;

Parts $83.62

Labor $118.00

Service Call $79.95

Sales Tax $21.82

TOTAL $303.39

I put a call into Fred’s to complain about the price. Gayle answered and was sympathetic but said Fred’s uses a “national price” structure. I explained the other repair people used for other appliances also charged a service call fee, but if I authorized the repair right then, the service fee was credited towards the entire cost. Gayle replied they can do that because the other companies charge by the hour whereas Fred’s charges the national price meaning if the job is supposed to take 2 hours, but if the Fred’s tech needs 3 hours, Fred’s charges only 2 hours. What went unsaid was if the national book says it should take 2 hours but the tech gets it done in 1 hour, Fred’s charges for the 2 hours.

Gayle was unable to discount the service charge fee. She did say she put my comments into her log, that it *MIGHT* be possible a manager would read it *AND MAYBE* the manager would call me. She was sorry that I am unhappy with Fred’s pricing but that is their policy.

I said that I have to review Fred’s – the service and repair were fine – but that the pricing was unacceptable. Gayle replied such a review is my choice; that is what the site is for.

As we were about to ring off Gayle said she hoped I would consider Fred’s in the future (no doubt out of habit) and I said, “No, not at this pricing.” Again, she apologized and we finally rang off.

The entire episode; repair and phone call, were very cordial – not hostile on either side.

Would I recommend Fred’s? Yes, IF you do not mind paying a stiff price. If cost is a consideration, then I strongly advise looking elsewhere.

BTW, I found the ignitor part on-line; $64 including shipping.

This is the 2nd time using Fred's but this time, I'm afraid, we were left with our mouths wide open. The handle on our freezer pulled off and we were unable to reattach it. We understood the $79 service call but ended up at $149! Tech just reattached it after about a 10 minute attempt-no parts needed. Seriously? You have to admit that a second look at this pricing would be warranted
